Ricky Weiss kicked off the Memorial Day Weekend at Red River Co-op Speedway (Winnipeg, Manitoba) on Thursday night for the track’s season opener. Gaining one spot in his heat race, Weiss streaked to an 8-lap heat race win locking him on the pole for the feature. On Friday night at I-94 Speedway (Fergus Falls, Minnesota) for the Wollak Construction WISSOTA Challenge Series sanctioned program, Weiss jumped up three spots in his 12-lap heat to place 5th. Earning the 11th-starting position for the $2,000-to-win A-Main, Ricky improved eight spots reeling in a 3rd place finish behind John Kaanta and Darrell Nelson with Pat Doar and Don Shaw rounding out the Top-5.
The following night Ricky followed the WISSOTA Challenge Series to Viking Speedway (Alexandria, Minnesota) for the two-day special. Passing three cars in his heat, Weiss charged to a heat race win positioning him 7th on the starting grid for the feature. Outrunning 2nd-starting Marshall Fegers, Ricky Weiss topped the 25-car field in the A-Main to capture his sixth win of the season and a $2,000 payday. Wrapping up the Memorial Day Weekend on Sunday, Weiss held his spot in his 12-lap heat race registering a 2nd place finish behind James Giossi. Earning the 9th-starting position for the $2,000-to-win finale, Ricky passed seven cars to place 2nd behind Don Shaw with John Kaanta, Pat Doar, and Steve Laursen rounding out the Top-5.
