Weiss lands Top-5 finish in Tar Heel 50 at Tri-County

Ricky Weiss was one of 26 Schaeffer’s Fall Nationals series entries on hand at Tri-County Racetrack (Brasstown, N.C.) on Thursday evening for the FK Rod Ends Tar Heel 50. Following the fifth fastest lap in his qualifying group, Ricky picked up a 10-lap heat race victory, locking him into the $10,053-to-win A-Main. Marching forward four spots in the 53-lap affair, Weiss registered a fourth place finish Brandon Overton, Shane Clanton, and Dale McDowell with Donald McIntosh coming in fifth. The following night at Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Ga.) for the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series-sanctioned Buck Simmons Memorial, Weiss locked his spot into the A-Main with the fastest lap overall in a field of 23 cars. With $6,000 on the line, Ricky was involved in tangle on the opening lap that saw him withdraw from competition without completing a circuit.
