Pair of second place finishes with Southern All Stars at SMS

Friday night found Ricky Weiss in action at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) for the Southern All Star Series doubleheader. Drawing 34 Late Models for the King of the Mountain Championship, Weiss set a blistering lap in time trials with a 16.269 second lap, which positioned him on the pole for the opening night feature. After leading the first 20 laps, Ricky fell short in a late-race battle with Dale McDowell to finish second behind McDowell with Sam Seawright, Ashton Winger, and Tommy Kerr rounding out the Top-5. On Saturday afternoon, Ricky secured his spot into the $7,000-to-win finale with an 8-lap heat race victory. Clawing forward two spots in the 50-lap affair, Weiss notched a runner-up finish behind Dale McDowell with Sam Seawright, Michael Page, and Austin Kirkpatrick completing the Top-5 finishers.
