Mother Nature postpones Hoosier Dirt Shootout finale

For the second appearance of the season at the quarter-mile oval, Ricky Weiss returned with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on Tuesday night at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa). Recording a third place finish in his heat race, Weiss locked into the 10th-starting position for the main event. With $10,000 on the line, Ricky dropped one spot in the 50-lapper to place 11th. On Friday night, Weiss returned with the World of Outlaws at Kokomo Speedway (Kokomo, Ind.) for the two two-day Hoosier Dirt Shootout. With 32 cars on hand for the event in place of the Prairie Dirt Classic, Ricky posted eighth fastest time in his group, which positioned him eighth on the starting grid for the $2,500-to-win preliminary feature. Locking the Top 8 into Saturday night’s main event, Weiss slipped back to a 13th place outing. (Michael Boggs Photography)

On Saturday night needing a sixth place finish or better in his B-Main to make the $25,000-to-win Hoosier Dirt Shootout finale, Weiss took part in a quick attempt to complete the 12-lap consolation before the rain postponed it to Sunday afternoon. Continued rain overnight and on Sunday morning forced race officials to postpone the finale to a later date.

Ricky is currently in second in the latest World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series point standings.
