Weiss finishes eighth in Firecracker prelim at Lernerville

Ricky Weiss returned with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on Thursday afternoon as the series remained on an eastern swing at Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pa.) for the 15th annual Firecracker 100 weekend. In a stout field of 53 cars, Weiss posted a fourth-place finish in his heat before grabbing the second-and-final transfer spot in his B-Main. For another preliminary feature on Friday evening, Ricky clocked in seventh fastest in his group before placing second in his heat behind Michael Norris. With $6,000 on the line in the feature, Weiss faded one spot to register an eighth-place finish.

With preliminary results determining the starting lineups for heat races on Saturday, Weiss held his spot for all 10 laps of his heat to place third. Starting the $30,000-to-win Firecracker 100 in 15th, Ricky clawed forward one spot in the 100-lap affair to record a 14th-place finish.

Ricky remains in fourth in the latest World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series point standings.
