Second-place finish in Johnny Appleseed Classic at Eldora

Ricky Weiss kicked off his Memorial Day weekend on Sunday afternoon at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the Johnny Appleseed Classic. Drawing 28 Sunoco American Late Model Series (ALMS) entries, Weiss timed in 13th fastest overall before picking up a heat race victory. After leading laps 5-17, Ricky relinquished the top spot to Darrell Lanigan. He went on to place second behind Lanigan with Scott James, Freddie Carpenter, and Devin Moran rounding out the Top-5.

On Monday evening at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.) for the ninth annual Scott Sexton Memorial, Weiss secured his spot into the $10,052-to-win Spring Nationals finale with a runner-up finish in his heat behind Dale McDowell. Improving one spot in the 52-lap affair, Ricky recorded a seventh-place finish.
