Ricky Weiss scores Top-5 finish on Saturday at Vado

Retuning to Vado Speedway Park (Vado, NM) on Friday after having an off night on Thursday, Weiss jumped up three spots in his heat race to place second. Starting the $5,000-to-win A-Main in fifth, Ricky dropped two spots to finish seventh. (Mike Ruefer photo)

For another $5,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday, Ricky topped the speed charts in time trials before picking up a heat win. Receiving the third-starting position for the feature via the redraw, Weiss dropped one spot in the 40-lap affair to record a fourth-place finish. He followed Mike Marlar, Garrett Alberson, and Earl Pearson Jr. across the line with Tyler Erb coming in fifth.

To wrap up the 16th annual Wild West Shootout on Sunday, Weiss secured his spot into the $25,000-to-win finale with a runner-up finish in his heat. Rolling off sixth, Ricky was collected in a tangle late in the race while running in the top-five that brought a disappointing end to his weekend. He was credited with a 12th-place outing.

Ricky pocketed a $1,000 bonus for setting the fastest time overall out of all six events with his 13.942-second lap on Saturday.
