Weiss finishes fifth in Bristol Dirt Nationals point standings

On Friday afternoon, Ricky Weiss returned to the dirt-covered Bristol Motor Speedway (Bristol, Tenn.) for the final two rounds of the Bristol Dirt Nationals. With 30 Late Models entered, Weiss secured his spot into the $50,000-to-win A-Main with a heat race win. Losing one spot in the 50-lap affair, Ricky posted a fifth-place finish. He trailed Chris Madden, Chris Ferguson, Devin Moran, and Kyle Larson across the line. (Speedway Shots photo)

The following night, Weiss claimed the fast time honors in time trials with a 14.982-second lap before placing first in his heat. Starting the feature in second, Ricky shot into the lead on the opening circuit and carried a steady pace out front until Dale McDowell snuck by on lap 29. He went onto finish 10th after suffering a flat left-rear tire on lap 36.
