Seventh-place finish in Colossal 100 opener at Charlotte

Wednesday night found Ricky Weiss in action at The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) as the inaugural Colossal 100 kicked off four consecutive nights of racing.

In a stout field of 47 XR Super Series entries, Weiss followed up a fifth-place finish in his heat with a consolation victory. Wheeling his way into the Top-10 in the feature, Ricky passed 11 cars in the 30-lap affair to register a seventh-place finish.

For another $25,000-to-win A-Main on Thursday, Ricky’s sixth-place finish in his heat race relegated him into the B-Main. Needing to place second or better to make the feature, Weiss was an early retiree from the 10-lapper.

After wet weather axed Friday’s program, Weiss came in sixth in his heat on Saturday before placing second in his B-Main. Starting the $50,000-to-win Colossal 100 finale in 21st, Ricky passed eight cars in the 50-lapper to finish 13th.
