Fourth-place finish in USA Nationals finale at Cedar Lake Speedway

Ricky Weiss trekked to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) on Thursday afternoon to kick off the 35th annual USA Nationals weekend with a $6,000-to-win prelim. (Jacy Norgaard photos)

With 46 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series entries on the grounds, Ricky missed a transfer spot in his heat by one car, relegating him into the B-Main. After grabbing the third-and-final position, Weiss clawed forward three spots in the 30-lap feature to finish 18th.

On Friday afternoon, Weiss followed up a sixth-place finish in his first heat with a third-to-first run in his second round. Earning a spot into the $3,000-to-win FANS Fund Dash, Ricky passed three cars in the 12-lapper to finish sixth.

With passing points from Friday’s heat races aligning Ricky 10th on the starting grid for the Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win USA 100, Weiss improved six positions in the 100-lap affair to register a fourth-place finish. He followed Jonathan Davenport, Chris Madden, and Tyler Erb across the line with Brandon Sheppard coming in fifth.
