Weiss bags Crate Late Model victory at Volunteer; collects two podiums in Super Late Model

Ricky Weiss began his busy Fourth of July weekend on Saturday afternoon at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) for the rescheduled Southern All Stars event that was originally scheduled for June 3rd.

With the line-up already set from their previous qualifying times, Weiss went on a sixth-to-second charge in the $5,000-to-win feature to finish runner-up behind Austin Neely. Jensen Ford, Brent Cornette, and Caleb Gay completed the Top-5.

Also competing in the Crate Late Model portion of the evening, Ricky topped the charts in qualifying and led flag-to-flag to score the victory over Pierce McCarter and Tim Maupin.

After an off-day, Weiss traveled to Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tenn.) on Monday to compete in the co-sanctioned Lil' Bill Corum Memorial with the Valvoline Iron-Man Southern Series and Spring Nationals Series.

Following a victory in his heat race, Weiss lined up on the front row and battled with Jimmy Owens for much of the 75-lap main event. With $21,000 on the line, Ricky landed on the podium in third behind race-winner Dale McDowell and Jimmy Owens.
